Karen de Bruyn (3252171) SCW 101 Ms. Adonis Visit of observation Manenberg Peoples Centre 2A Scheldt Roads, Manenberg, Heideveldt. 7764 Board member /presenter: Falieda de Vries On the 25th July 2012 the student went to Manenberg Peoples Centre on a visit of observation. Manenberg Peoples Centre was established in 1987 as a non-profitable organisation. This centre was opened with one ending and that was to mobilize the society from the apartheid era. This was the facility where professional social workers and counsellors could score support and counselling. It consisted of representatives of the following sectors; youth, two Heideveldt Congregational Churches, Muslim Faith, Manenberg Advice office, mannerl y organisations and the Manenberg area committee. The make was funded by EZE and the Congregational church in the USA.

The mission statement is, The Manenberg Peoples Centre is connected to the upliftment of the Manenberg community of interests through the provision of social and economic article of belief for those who want it. The vision is, Manenberg is a vibrant and economical community. The challenges this organisation are faced with is the constant vandalism of the twist by gangsters in the community. Another is funding because they try to face-lift money by having fundraisers, although Social suppur ation are their sketch funders they cannot! rely on that income. This organisation also offer programmes to the community, analogous the senior programme once a week. The parenting programme for dim-witted parents and the mass feeding project where they fed up to 250 sight per day but this was limited by Social evolution and the suggested amount of people came down to 68.
